La Crosse Police Apologize For Mistake
Star Tribune"We feel horrible about the mistake and want to do all we can to minimize any inconvenience or embarrassment this woman may have experienced," Gavrilos said.
Police sent the woman a personal note of apology and produced a new Crime Stoppers message with corrected information and a public apology, he said.
Police did not release the name of the woman.
See, this is how you handle a mistake, with humility and honesty. Mistakes happen. The only thing that would make a mistake worse is by not admitting to the mistake and attempting an ass covering. My hats off to the La Crosse Police Department for being one class act in this incident.

The major benefit is that people forget about mistakes when you immediately apologized and correct the error.
If you stall the process, you extend the process and people will remember.
