So, I received a threatening email, one that suggested I put cream and sugar in Sumatra coffee. Such vileness. I was properly offended. Oh, okay, it wasn't threatening, it wasn't vile, and it most certainly didn't properly offend me. Yes, yes, I was offended by the suggestion that copious amounts of cream and sugar be added to coffee, but that's just my issue.

Anyway, Carl of Unpopular Ideas sent me an email complaining about my comment registration system. Yes, I do hear a lot about my registration system. So, I increased the amount of ways to register to Rook's Rant. It seems the last few updates expanded login avenues. So, now, if you have a Google ID (all you Blogger bloggers have a Google ID), you can now use that to log in when you want to leave a comment. I also found that those with WordPress IDs can also login.

I'm not sure what the problem is with trying to register through my Movable Type installation (that is, registering through my server's MT software, not through some 2nd party application). I suspect it has to do with MT failing to send me emails, or some such thing. I do have a few people that have registered through my MT installation, but not many, considering the difficulty that exists for registering with my site.

Your WordPress system only works for people at the free site, not people who host their own site.

My only problem is remembering how to spell my name, ok, the first letter of my name, after which Firefox fills in the blanks.

Everyone's a critic, or they're dead. Currently I'd rather be a critic.

Don't you have to register when you use WordPress? Even if you use your own host?

Okay, Guy Andrew. I finally was allowed entrance into your hallowed site, as per your instructions and corrections. Thanks. I was beginning to wonder if I was having trouble remembering my name and passwords, of which I used several each while trying to register.

Mow I can once again fire a few friendly shots across your bow now and then. :)

WordPress doesn't track people who use their software on other systems, only on the wordpress.com system. That's why you may see whynowannex as an alias for me at Badtux. He doesn't allow you to sign in except through the corporate sites.

Blogspot has also changed their software so that it won't recognize my URL as valid.

If it weren't for the jerks who spam, none of this would be a problem.
